Services provided by Autism Queensland for adults
and their families include:
RESPITE AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICE - OXLEY
Oxley Respite and Family Support is a multi-dimensional and
innovative service which caters for families who have the
demanding role of caring for someone with a disability and
complex, challenging behaviours. The clients may be of any
age, have any number of disabilities and must live within the
Brisbane City Council area.
SUPPORTED accommodation
Autism Queensland provides two kinds of Supported accommodation,
both of which are only
available to members of Autism Queensland who are currently in
receipt of an Adult Lifestyle Support Package (ALSP). More details
about this package are available at Disability
Services Queensland. Autism Queensland is able to
provide advice and support for families applying for this funding.
24 hour supported accommodation
Autism
Queensland provides 24 hour supported accommodation to individuals
who are in receipt of an ALSP.
This service is conducted within houses in the community (which
are either owned or leased by Autism Queensland) ranging from
the Ipswich region, Brisbane south and the Bay area. There
are no more than three residents in each house and staffing
ratios vary, dependent on the needs of each resident.
In home support
Accommodation support can also be provided to
individuals who are in receipt of an ALSP and are living in their
own home. This type of support can vary from a couple of hours
a week to 35 hours per week, and can vary according to the
individual’s
skills, abilities and future plans. |
