Auditory processing and school performance in children with ASD
Children with ASD aged 8 to 11 years
This study will explore the associations between the auditory processing (the way that sounds are interpreted) and school performance in children with ASD. The children will attend the University of Queensland for testing of auditory processing, language, intelligence, reading and writing. A comprehensive report on the child’s academic strengths and challenges, sound processing and language skills will be provided. Parents will complete short questionnaires and an interview about their child. The child’s teachers will complete a short questionnaire about their school performance. Each child will receive a token of appreciation (such as a movie or zoo voucher) and a certificate for participating. Families will be compensated for costs of travel and meals when attending the University of Queensland.
