Early Intervention Programs

For those needing more intensive support, Autism Queensland provides a range of short term program options. These programs range from 3 to 6 sessions with one consistent team member and input from professionals in other disciplines. The programs address the current educational and developmental needs and concerns for the child. They also provide educational staff and families with information, practical strategies and support to enable them to work effectively with the child. In return, educational staff and families will provide Autism Queensland staff with in-depth information about the child's and the families needs, and recommendations for further services may be made as a consequence.

Within Brisbane, the first three sessions are normally provided in the educational placement. Further sessions may take place elsewhere (e.g. home, Autism Queensland, childcare). For further information about program options please contact Autism Queensland on 3273 0000.

In regional districts, the first session is normally provided in the child's educational placement. Subsequent contacts are usually made by teleconference link up with educational staff and the family. If families are visiting Brisbane, subsequent sessions can take place at one of Autism Queensland’s Therapy and Education Centres. View the Itinerary for 2009 to find out when consultants will be in your region. For further information please contact Autism Queensland on 3273 0000.
