Outreach Early Intervention Support - Statewide
Advisory Visits
Autism Queensland consultants are able to provide visits to the educational placement (e.g. Kindy, Pre-school, SEDU) of a young child with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) to observe the child and provide information, advice, support and individualised strategies to parents, staff and other involved personnel. These visits may be requested by educational placement staff or parents/carers and are attended by two members of the Therapy and Education Outreach Services team (in most cases). Where there is no educational placement, this service may take place in the child’s home or other setting (eg. Autism Queensland, childcare). This service consists of an advisory visit and follow-up telephone support, with a follow-up visit also available as needed. There is no cost for this service.
Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba Visits
These visits may occur throughout the year on an as needed basis. Contact the outreach team on (07) 3273 0000 for a request form.
Regional Visits
Visits occur to regional areas on an annual or bi-annual basis. Schools and parents of Autism Queensland clients will be notified and provided with ‘request for visit forms’ approximately 6 weeks prior to the visit. There is no cost for this service. View

Short Term Programs
For those needing more intensive support, Autism Queensland provides a range of short term program options. These programs range from 3 to 6 sessions with one consistent team member and input from professionals in other disciplines. The programs address the current educational and developmental needs and concerns for the child.
They also provide educational staff and families with information, practical
strategies and support to enable them to work effectively with the child. In
return, educational staff and families will provide Autism Queensland staff
with in-depth information about the child's and the families needs, and recommendations
for further services may be made as a consequence. Within Brisbane, the first
three sessions are normally provided in the educational placement. Further
sessions may take place elsewhere (e.g. home, Autism Queensland, childcare).
For further information about program options please contact Autism
Queensland on 3273 0000.
In regional districts, the first session is normally provided in the child's educational placement. Subsequent contacts are usually made by teleconference link up with educational staff and the family. If families are visiting Brisbane, subsequent sessions can take place at one of Autism Queensland’s Therapy and Education Centres.View
