TOWNSVILLE - COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY (CBT)

Venue: Shoredrive Motel, 117 The Street, Townsville
Date: 10 October 2012 (1:00PM to 4:00PM)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is one therapeutic approach that has been found effective in treating a range of psychological disorders in children and adolescents – including anxiety, depression and stress. Research suggests high rates of mood disorders in those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly as the child enters late childhood-early adolescence. There is recent evidence to suggest that CBT is an effective therapeutic approach to use with individuals on the autism spectrum, but significant modifications need to be made to ensure efficacy. This workshop aims to provide participants with some practical and creative tips for adapting a traditional CBT approach for use with children and adolescents with ASD. This workshop assumes basic theoretical and practical knowledge about CBT.
