Venue: Waterfront Hotel, 2/46 David Low Way, Diddilibah, MaroochydoreDate: 22 May 2012 (1:00PM to 4:00PM)
Everyone experiences constant input from the sensory world in which they live. The ability to accurately interpret these sensory messages is fundamental to learning in play/recreational and formal settings as well as in social situations. Individuals with ASD often find the sensory world confusing….what they see, hear, feel, smell, taste and how they move is not necessarily consistent with the experiences others around them are having. This makes the world a confusing, confronting place and impacts on all areas of their lives. This seminar discusses the sensory processing issues of people with ASD and through involvement of the participants, offers some insights and understandings into successfully supporting these individuals and unique sensory differences.
