This workshop will outline the value of visual supports for ALL children with ASD and some types of commonly used visuals in the school setting. We will discuss why children with ASD respond well to visual supports, considerations when developing a visual, and include demonstrations of a range of visual supports. Participants will learn to identify how visuals may help in particular areas of difficulty and how to develop individualised supports. Topics will include visual schedules and timetables, sequencing, organisation and checklists, emotional regulation techniques and communication aides. The workshop will be limited to small numbers to ensure hands-on participation.
