Medicare, Private Health Insurance and HCWA Early Intervention Funding
Therapists at our Autism Spectrum Disorder Therapy Clinic are registered with Medicare and many of the major health insurers.
Due to differences with health insurance policies, we recommend that you contact your health insurance provider to check what therapies your fund will cover.
Medicare items are available through the:
- Enhanced Primary Care Scheme on referral from a General Practitioner, and
- Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) Package on referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.
You should talk to your child’s doctor about these schemes before commencing therapy. More information is available about these medicare items at www.health.gov.au.
Additionally, some families may be eligible for the HCWA Early Intervention Funds if their child is under seven years of age. These funds may also be used to cover all or part of the cost of therapy sessions.
For further information about the HCWA Early Intervention funds, go to www.fahcsia.gov.au, or contact your Autism Advisor.
