Hanen More Than Words

Autism Queensland is now able to offer the Hanen More Than Words Program.

The program is delivered by a Hanen Certified speech pathologist who has received specialised training.

Hanen More than Words is an education program specifically for parents of young children with Autism.

The program focuses on giving parents practical tools to assist their child to develop social communication skills.

Most of the program takes place in a small group workshop format, however there are also three individual video feedback sessions for each family.

The major goals addressed in a program include:

• Improved two-way interaction;
• More mature and conventional ways of communicating;
• Better skills in communicating for social purposes;
• An improved understanding of language.

Families are able to utilise Helping Children With Autism (HCWA) Early Intervention Funds for this program when delivered by Autism Queensland.
