Autism Queensland’s purpose-built Centre for Excellence Far North Queensland is the region’s only specialist Autism Early Intervention Centre.

The Centre's transdisciplinary Early AQtion Team deliver services to children under seven years of age with a diagnosis of Autism and their families living in Cairns, Atherton, Innisfail, Weipa and surrounding areas.

This team includes teachers, teacher aides, a social worker, speech pathologist, occupational therapist and psychologist.

Services include:

EarlyAQtion Centre-based Group Program - a small group program during which children attend the centre in Cairns between two to four days per week.  

EarlyAQtion Play and Learn - a small group program for young, recently diagnosed children and their families held once a week over 8-10 weeks.

EarlyAQtion Outreach Programs - These programs are available to children and their families in Cairns, Tablelands, Johnstone and the Cape. They are designed on an individual basis to meet the needs of the child and family, in their home and other early childhood settings. 

Early AQtion Intensive Group Therapy & Skills Programs - week-long, small group sessions that usually take place during school holidays.
