Practice and Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders for Professionals and Parents

Sofitel Brisbane will play host to this year's National Autism Event hosted by Autism Queensland. The Sofitel is a time honoured, five star hotel and a world class conference venue, located in the very centre of Brisbane City.

The conference runs for three days from 15th to 17th October 2008.

Autism Queensland featured the latest Research on ASD at the 2007 Australian Biennial Conference on Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Research Forum on day 3 of this event will feature the latest Research related to Autism Spectrum Disorders by International and National Academic, Clinical and Practitioner Researchers.
Research papers will focus on current Research into Education, Early Intervention, Therapy, Communication, Independence and Support of children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Plenary will feature Dr Tony Attwood and Dr Kate Sofronoff presenting the outcomes of their research:  A Randomized Controlled Trial of a Cognitive Behavioural Intervention for Anger Management in Children Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.Kate Sofronoff, Tony Attwood, Sharon Hinton, Irina Levin.

Professor Tony Attwood

Tony Attwood is a clinical psychologist who has specialised in autism spectrum disorders since he qualified as a clinical psychologist in England in 1975. He works in private practice in Brisbane and is an adjunct professor at Griffith University, Queensland.

Dr Kate Sofronoff

Kate Sofronoff is the Director of Clinical Programs, School of Psychology and
Director of Research: Families of Children with Special Needs, The Parent and family Support Centre, The University of Queensland
